Condor 846
Hatched May 18, 2016 in the wild in Southern CA
Hatched out of a nest in 2016 at Hutton's Bowl from male condor 374 and female 79, 846 captured everyone’s attention right away. With a live-streaming nest camera placed in her cavity, the condor crew was able to watch grow from a tiny white fluffball into a beautifully black adult raptor.
When condor 846 took to the skies, she was immediately seen soaring to “adult” heights and easily integrated into the flock. As an adult she paired with male condor 462 in the territory adjacent to her own natal territory, successfully raising a chick in 2025, condor 1346 (meaning her and her chick both share the same wing tag numerical digits!).
Everyone is excited to see 846’s story continue to play out and hopefully see future generations of wild-fledged condors that can be attributed to her legacy.
